Lookstein Virtual Jewish Academy

Lookstein Virtual Jewish Academy

The Lookstein Virtual Jewish Academy is Bar-Ilan University’s award-winning, accredited online school for Jewish studies.  Every year, about 5000 students enroll in one or more of our online Jewish studies classes.  In both 2016 and 2017, we were recognized as one of the 50 most innovative projects in the American Jewish community by Slingshot.  They offer synchronous and asynchronous online courses on Tanach, Jewish Philosophy, Leadership and Values, Jewish History and others.

How does it work?

Teachers receive access and training to manage content, assign activities, and track student progress. Students access materials and track their own progress on their individualized dashboard. The materials are available on any device with an Internet connection.

What is the teacher role?

Educators facilitate the course, controlling both content and pace. They determine which content to assign or not assign, decide on a timeline, and respond to student work. Materials can be implemented online or face-to-face, in whatever environment works best for your students.

What courses are available?

Registration Options:

Jewish schools may register their students in Lookstein Virtual Jewish Academy courses. Their students join cohorts made up of students from other like-minded schools.  Alternatively, interested parents may also register their children who are enrolled in public,  private, or homeschools and who would like to continue their Jewish education. These students participate in courses in small cohorts or complete the coursework independently.
