Jewish Music Research Center

Recommended for:

The Jewish Music Research Centre (JMRC) is recommended for teachers of grades 7-12 looking to research and review Jewish cultural music, publications of scholarly materials about music conceived, performed, and consumed within Jewish social frameworks in the past and present.

The site also contains bibliographies, glossaries, music databases, and thesaurus and terminologies of music. The  Lexicon of Klezmer Terminology (LKT) compiles a wide array of source materials that shed light on the historical and contemporary state of knowledge about klezmer music. It also indicates whether musical notation or sound recordings are included in the source. By clicking on the bibliographic hyperlink at the end of each citation, you will receive the full reference.  It is a joint project with the National Library of Israel and Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
