The Hebrew University Master’s Program is a blended onsite and Distance Learning MA Program in Jewish Education. It is an international program taught in English, mainly intended for students who reside outside of Israel. The method of study for this degree is based on self guided study and on group work within a supportive framework of the tutor and fellow learners. Studies take place on a Hebrew University website designated for distance learning. Each week the lessons are uploaded to the website and students are required to view the lessons, read the relevant bibliography, participate in discussions and submit assignments.
Hebrew U is an open environment, welcoming Jews and non-Jews from across the globe. The program assumes basic pedagogy and theory of education. It is geared for principals and teacher leaders who would like to move up in administration. Many of the courses are focused upon challenges and issues facing Jewish education in Diaspora communities. Courses in the program are intended to familiarize students with research in Jewish education and to enable the clarification of the goals, methods, practices and challenges involved in transmitting Jewish culture and teaching Jewish and Israel subjects in the Diaspora. The study program focuses on the following general areas: Social Sciences, Jewish Identity, Informal Education, Philosophy of Jewish Education, Contemporary Jewry and Jewish Education, Study Programs with Jewish Content, Educational Leadership and Innovation.
The program includes three online semesters, including 4 weeks in Israel in July 2021.
